About Us

Watering Can Ministries may have started with one woman, but my hope as its founder is that more and more faces will be featured on this page as time goes on. I thoroughly believe that we should have discernment when seeking out content and know who we are reading and learning from. In that spirit, you can learn about each content contributor here!

Nicole Hager

I’m a women’s ministry leader, pastor’s wife, mother of two amazing boys, and founder of Watering Can Ministries. Ever since I was a kid, I knew I was meant to teach in some form. Almost everything I did ended up morphing into teaching. In middle school, I took dance and by high school, I was teaching dance for the younger classes. I loved math, so I tutored my friends. My freshman year of college, I became a mentor for a middle school girl in a mentoring program, and my sophomore year I was asked to run the program and teach the college students the training material. I have a Bachelor of Education degree. Teaching is just where I feel most at home. So when I became a Christian in college and fell in love with ministry, it only made sense that teaching in some form was where I wanted to be. This has played out in several ways over the past 20 years, from discipling younger girls, to writing and teaching Bible studies, and now teaching you all how to grow as leaders in ministry! And because I think you should know a little about the beliefs of who you are learning from, I have Southern Baptist roots, my husband and I planted a church that is part of the Acts29 church planting network, and I am Reformed in my theology.

Madison Russ

I am an accidental farmer’s wife and a homeschool teaching mother to two precious boys. I grew up in church, where the Lord graciously saved me at a young age. While studying to be an early childhood educator in college and hoping to instill a love of learning within my students, I recognized my own excitement and enjoyment in being a lifelong learner of the Word of God. Over time, the Lord has allowed me the opportunity to teach the Bible in various capacities. My most favorite setting to use that gift in has been writing and teaching Bible studies for the women’s ministry at my local church (alongside Nicole)! It is my prayer that all the Watering Can Ministry resources will grow your own desire to be a lifelong student of the Bible and strengthen the gifts the Lord has given you to advance His Kingdom!
